Gonna Build Me a Hot Rod

GONNA BUILD ME A HOT ROD is expressive of the many home-grown builders and makers that live outside of the box. “Hot Rodding” has always been a loose term for combining elements/parts that were never intended to come together to create a useful and purposeful look and enhanced performance. This song is dedicated to the spirit of hot rodding in all its forms. The vibe is anthemic and upbeat with a classic-rock/blues-rock feel.

THE RHYTHM KING  is about asking that age old question...why does the dark side of life always look so more appealing and cool? The video also includes 'the dancing flagman' which is dedicated to drag racing's lost art of the starting flagger.

JUST SIT THERE is a musical journey that expresses the universal experience that is created by the “back seat driver” in all their shapes and forms…no matter where they may sit in the vehicle. Whether you’re eating it or dishing it out, driver criticism will continue to be part of the human condition with no available exit ramp.

WICHITIA LINEMAN is the final track of the Spyderhuff four-song EP entiled 'GONNA BUILD ME A HOT ROD'. Jimmy Webb who wrote Wichita Lineman was driving on a lonesome stretch of highway in Oklahoma and spotted a lineman all by himself working high on a telephone pole. Jimmy was later quoted as saying, “This song is not just about a lineman. It is about anyone who can think about other things while they work—a truck driver, for example, or a farmworker. It is a song about an ordinary person who has extraordinary thoughts.”

It's always a real challenge to take on a classic such as this. We created a different interpretation, but still tried to stay true to the loneliness and open space that captures the listener. Hope you enjoy.
